Read in today's news that MAERSK, the shipping company, is laying off thousands of workers and cancelled construction of 6 container ships because of slumping business. How will this affect the railroads on top of the oil and coal business lost ?? Might be lean times.

It will affect the CSX more than any railroad I would imagine.
But the intermodal business is down just about every where. I've noticed more trailers on board the pig trains here lately, maybe a little shift in business or just some new business
Good Day,
I'm curious.........Why will this affect the CSX more than any railroad?

My thinking........... When the Panama Canal Expansion in completed in 2016 there will be more intermodal traffic for CSX, NS and FEC.

Swafford, you are correct in assuming that the FEC will be handling more container traffic-- The FEC recently rehabbed the Port of Miami intermodal terminal trackage and associated crossing gates & signals. They run at least 1 train in and out per day.
