Sometimes small details we place on the layout say a lot about our trains, billboards I believe are one of these details. There must be some unique billboards out there. I purchased the Lionel Vision Line LCD billboard car and it has turned out to be one of the favorite eye catchers on my layout. I am looking forward in purchasing a couple of LCCA's new billboards made in the USA and adding a couple of operating goose neck lamps. Let's see your layout billboards.

A few years ago, Bill Parisi took this picture of our layout. Notice the MTH billboard made by my good friend "Doc" from the forum.

The frame is made from brass angle. The lights are HO street lamps with the bulbs shielded so they don't shine into the viewers eyes, yet fully illuminate the billboard. The billboard is Photo Shopped from a 1956 National Geographic ad. Note the train descriptions

Frank & John - Very nice! Really adds to the scenes.

The ones I like are the ones that come with Road Champs and some Matchbox 1/43rd scale vehicles. I put them on roof tops and in the country.

The old layout, circa 1993-2003:
I love the PostWar billboards and they gave me a way too frame the scene.

That’s a great way to display them. How were they mounted?

My favorite from back when I was just starting out. I thought it was appropriate.
And then I graduated to create this billboard honoring 3 generations from Carl Dovis Rogers Sr (my grandpa, pictured at age 4, in 1896) to Carl Dovis Rogers III all worked for various railroads.

Alan, thanks for the link. I always wanted but could not locate the NAVY billboard sign for my layout. Super!

During hot summer days, local law enforcement likes to park behind the town billboard "for the shade."

Nice Billboards everyone. Here are some on my layout. The first two were made by a really great friend of mine Jim D. The last one was a gift from Jim.

A friend of mine, his son was killed at the age of 20 so I dedicated my open space land on the layout to him. I hand bent the tubing for lights and printed the signs on vinyl. A very special project for me. My other is a picture from a race book reproduced 4x and put together on foam core and set to create crowd w/ 3d bottom ad board. If you look close actually real faces in the crowd. Keep creating!!!
