I need a recommendation for a small, narrow Lionel fan driven smoke unit, that is available, to fit in my 6-28036 SP Consolidation. I'm replacing the puffer unit and the smoke unit needs to fir in the same physical space. I had found a Lionchief unit that would work but it's not available from Lionel anymore. I'd appreciate a recommendation that is still available from Lionel, as well as a part number.

It may help if you were to provide the dimensions of the space you have to work with?

Thanks. I actually found another one as well that's slightly smaller.
You could also consider the MTH small smoke unit.

Nothing that's larger than a standard Lionel puffer unit. The same style that's been used for years. I was able to locate a fan driven unit that fits that criteria.

What are the dimensions on it? Is it longer than the standard Lionel puffer unit?
I looked at the engine this is going in, I have a Lionel Consolidation that has the full sized MTH steam smoke unit installed, you don't even have to go miniature for this engine.

Does it still have the Lionel electronics? The CCM is about 1/8" behind the puffer smoke unit on mine. No way a full size MTH unit is fitting. I have a couple here, so I tried it already .
Nope, it got PS/2 in the process. That does make a difference, the PS/2 board is in the tender.
I think one of the previously posted smoke units are probably your best bet. I've used a number of LC+ smoke units in various upgrades, they do a decent job. Of course, I also use a Super-Chuffer to control them, that might be a challenge to fit in.
I'll try ordering one and building a bracket to fit. Too bad the one Lionel used in a scale Atlantic a couple years ago is NLA, would have dropped right in.
4 chuffs will be a bit of an issue, but I've got a plan .
I have a plan for that too Lou. Chuff-Generator
