Does anyone know what “smoke boost” is? According to some of the older trains made in the 90s and early 2000s, some trains had this feature. Has anyone ever used it before? I’m just curious.
Just like it says- TMCC Function AUX 9 "superheats" the smoke element (applies full track voltage, I think) to temporarily increase smoke output (and warm it up). Generally, it also destroys the element/ wick with repeated use, which is why the manual says to limit the button to 10 seconds (this mitigates the risk but does not eliminate it). As far as I know, all smoking TMCC locomotives have this feature.
