The thread on the OST site somehow triggered my memory about the thread on Stan Orr's Lionel parts business. I tried searching for "Stan Orr Lionel Parts" and didn't get anything meaningful. Anybody know what happened?

George Tebolt said he's retiring, too....
Folks may not know that George Tebolt is one of the folks who has been manufacturing replacement Lionel Train parts for many years. If he does retire, I hope someone will acquire that aspect of his business.
The local rumor mill reported that George gave up his table at York. George quit doing local shows a few years ago. But the mill also reported that the mail order business would continue.
George was just the best to deal with! He will be missed!
Jon
yes. I well remember Stan
Bob C.
I've been trying to contact him about possibly taking over the parts business, since he mentioned that possibility.

Hope it works out for you. It's always good to have a good parts dealer.
Agreed. Of course, haven't heard back from him since then
I wonder what sort of money would be required to buy a Lionel trains parts business like Stan's or George's. I imagine the person would need some pretty deep pockets.
The Little Depot found a buyer for his parts not too long ago.
Just a quick check looking in the "Whitepages Phone directory", it lists Stan Orr at age 79, so I would say he has had enough, and needs to enjoy the rest of his life. The check on George Tebolt, only showed age as 65+, but having never dealt with him, or met him at any shows, he is probably in the same boat as Stan. It is time for both to move on, and both will be sorely missed as parts dealers.
As El Classico mentioned, he would like to take over the business of Stan Orr, but CW has another good point, of how much would it take to do it.
I believe Orr passed his to family, is only marginally involved. Tebolt said he was probably leaving the business, as getting too old.
Stan Orr is such a nice person. He is the first parts dealer I ever dealt with, going back 30+ years. I have also dealt with Bob Rosicke from the Little Depot for many years. He is fine. I was with him at a train show two weeks ago in Kingston, NY. He sold the parts business but is still at it selling trains. George and Agnes Tebolt are also fine. Their mail order business is still going strong. Another parts dealer, J & K Trains and Parts in Marlboro, New York is also shutting down. As I write this, my wife, en route home from visiting our grandchildren in New Jersey, will be stopping at J & K to pick up 5 cartons of stuff! I have had a lot of dealings with Joe, Karryl, and Joey over the past few years. S & W Parts Supply, in Niskayuna NY is still going strong as a parts dealer and authorized Lionel service center.
