Thanks for responding about the books. I'm going for reading material tomorrow.
The kitbashed CNJ Baldwin cab units look superb.
Bob
Curve,
Thanks for posting all the photos, certainly looks like a good show.
WOW! The NY Society is a very hospitable bunch of guys.
I pulled up with a van filled with modules, braces , module kits and lotz of bulky accessories, compressor, dozens of clamps, adhesives, etc. and at least 9 guys emptied my truck the truck and were back again to load me up.
Thank you for everything.
Great variety on the floor and great pricing. Grab it tomorrow if you can. These folks can put on a show. I had a very good day.

Any word from Kohs & Company about the PRR cabooses?
HW: I heard from a fella who has them on order.... Word is that the manufacturer did not agree to a final inspection and Mr. Kohs declined said merchandise.
It is of course going to be a topic of speculation on many fronts; I would imagine ebay will have some cabin cars appear....
A major bummer for all involved...
The show from photos looks to be very good. Not like the show in Indy where all the dealers pack up half way through the show and is poorly organized.
The Kohs PRR cabooses will not be delivered due to the manufacture problems. Also the PRR Flat cars will not be delivered even though PRR cabooses and flats are finished and packed to ship. The manufacture did not follow good asembly procedures and wanted Kohs to pay for the two projects unseen. The manufacture wanted full payment for two projects that no one knows were done corectly (manufacture hidding problems?).
Kohs cut his losses and both projects are in the hands of a new manufacture that Kohs has known for twenty years. The new manufacture now has all the research and design work so the projects should very quickly.

Anyone take up-close photos of the OK Engines passenger cars? I want to know if they showed their new Pullman fluted-side cars and how they looked.
My insider point of view. The convention offered many activities besides the trading hall. The tours of NJTransit light rail and hoboken facilities as well as the Grand Central and NJTransit heavy rail was well attended. We were given many complements from folks who enjoyed it, kudos to those involved. A full featured convention would also not be complete without the dozens of clinics given on various topics. I certainly learned new brass working techniques from Bob Stevenson's presentation. If you are on the fence, Sunday is the last day and bring the whole family using the $10 family coupon from Atlas, MTH, or NYSME.
One other small mention would be to all the dealers and manufacturers for support our hobby. A special mention to Atlas for their continued support in the tough times we are facing. They have item which are slowly coming in and I would like to give you a teaser. When we go online and ask for something they do listen, look at the new improved coupler heads. And here are the real teaser photos below, you asked for it and we'll soon get it so go out and order some, either as standalone or attached to freight cars. New and improved in two ways, can you guess?
A second other thing I should mention, we had some fantastic turnout at the model contest room. Yes I did have that K4 and I also had a triplex on display in the model contest room. There was only one entrant for the "steam" category as a judged model. The others had a fairly decent showing with the best of show going to a BMT traction model. Photos will be up tomorrow on the 2012oscalenational.com website.
Talked to Jerry Kimble at show, GE-8s are looking at first quarter 2013 at best, new slim profile trucks were shown, these were not on Trinitys but should be on future cars. metal couplers are now in stock. ,The coilcars look very good should be hitting the dealers soon and PS-4750s in about 2 months. Beyond that nothing else announced, still getting new factories up to speed.
Did anyone ask Atlas fixing the switches?
Stephen
Was I dreaming about an announcement at York regarding articulated well cars? Was there any further detail available at the OSN?
NW2124,
I asked the Atlas rep about re-tooling the switches. He said it was not going to happen anytime soon.

Mike,
You were not dreaming, though I think it was O Scale west from which came reports that Sunset/3rd Rail or GGD was talking of making these if there was enough interest. I recall several posts about it and even asking about it on a thread somewhere that was addressed to Scott Mann. I don't think anything about this ever made it on the Sunset website. I'm not holding my breath.
Many thanks, by the way, to those who provided us updates.
RM
Rich,
Fantastic! Thanks for the confirmation.
Only issue I see if production is based on interest is the lack of promoting the potential product offering. I'll ping Scott.
Thanks Ed: For aking about the switches.
Stephen
A very good show, and I really enjoyed the tour of NYSME. Thanks to all who put in the hard work to make this happen.
Here are some shots of the operating layouts.

Any update from Atlas on the CZ cars? Still no formal announcement of the 3rd and 4th cars? Just when does the 18 months for the entire train start?
Was Sunset at the show? I see that they have posted the brass pilot model of the Jawn Henry. Never thought this would happen.
Stephen
I spent the day there Friday. There were many opportunities for good deals if you looked for them. Yes, Sunset-3rd Rail was present with the indefatigable Bob Heil representing, though I don't recall seeing the sample Jawn Henry. It is always good to catch up with the dealers on what's new, renew friendships you haven't seen for a while, and go home with new treasure.
I got a closeup look at Erik Stott's drive system and have to say it is a marvelously designed and executed product. Who knows, since Erik hinted at a first generation diesel in the future, I may become a customer.
My thanks to the NYSME group for their effort. I truly enjoyed myself.
Thanks Chris for the update I appreciate it.
Yes Erik's drive is bar none. I have several 45s on order.
Stephen
I had a great time. I went to a few seminars, dinner with friends and to the group's layout on Friday night. I met some people and saw some really nice stuff. I walked around the trading hall about 14 or 15 times. I bought some small stuff like wheels, couplers and decals but I was hoping something more substantial would jump out at me to buy. I don't really need much. Eventually one of the guys just gave me a boxcar to take home for my trouble.
I'd like to thank the New York group for putting on such a well done event.
Check out the NYSME Facebook page for photo albums of the tours and other activities. I personally had a ball chaperoning the trips, I think I had more fun then the guests!

I've got a dollar that says that is an HO or N model.
Got my usual grocery bag of detail parts; some were even actually ones I needed!
Picked up a PSC woodside reefer for under $100..... Saw lots of "bargains" and lots of stuff that will be seen again & again...
Had 13 people attend my hands-on clinic/seminar to build a flat car. Who says it's all about RTR now?
Drank & ate too much and slept too little - just round about normal...
How do you compare this show to O Scale Shows of the past? I haven't been to an O SCale Show in 13 Years. I used to buy a lot of O Scale. I'm just curious how much merchandise to buy, trains, engines, etc.? Tom Sr.
Excellent show, probably as good as it gets in O scale these days, there were 220 tables and attendance as I understand was 250 I believe going into Sat AM[somebody will probably correct me on these #s]No comparison to last year and much larger than Towson,MD 2 years ago, by way of comparison the last O national show here had 300 tables. There were a lot of good deals in plastic and brass.
I live 2 miles away. So could go in and out. I had 2 wood Rail chief combine kits from the 50's and needed help/tips on assembling. Really out of my element.
But Tom at Micro Mark gave me ideas. Another dealer showed me details on assembling a wooden trolley. So that really helped. Then Merril-NJ Hirailers found the correct trucks at $10 pr.. Finally will get old kits together.
Nice to meet/chat with folks normally at Greenberg/Allentown shows.
I brought my 6 yr old. I was surprised he hung in there as long as he did.
He's been indoctrinated well with the NJ Hirailers.
I then went for the evening ride and visited 3 open house layouts in area. Tom's (Micro Mark) layout is extremely professional and impressive.
He would answer all questions asked and respond in detail. The catenary wiring itself was impressive.
If you like scale detail-this is the place to be. I just do not have enough time to
absorb it all. You do not have to "be in to trains" to appreciate the dioramas.
