If I could have a buck for every time the "611 is getting restored or is NS going to restore 611" posts show up, I could be a millionaire.

Whatever is going on, if anything, I'd bet it has to do with the VMT's big fundraising efforts that have been well discussed here and on other forums in the past two weeks or so.

I heard that EXTREME TRAINS will feature a co-host who goes ballistic when someone points to an MU consist and shouts, " L****p!" or directs the cameraman to a pilot and says, "There's a cowc*****r!"

EXTREME TRAINS - a refined, elegant production - MASTERPIECE THEATRE for railfans

Any truth to a rumor that one segment will feature a guy named "Share" (sp?) at the throttle of 765 trying to demonstrate her "Lima gait" on a rickety siding? Oh, the THRILL of it!

P.S.: I hope that segment will be taped AFTER her excursions around Horseshoe Curve. Just playin' it safe  .  .  .

I have it on good authority a complete  NYC Hudson was discovered somewhere in Indiana in a building that was abandoned in the late 40's.

It will be shown publicly as soon as some legal ends are tied up as to ownership and the like. This has been kept very quiet for this past year and a half. This could be the greatest find ever for railroad buffs.

I cannot offer any other comments on this find so please do not ask.

Most of the "facts" that show presented about railroading were just plain WRONG!

Or are you just pulling my leg?

Not only your leg, but also your preferred terminology and your locomotive, too.

Just good Forum fun  .  .  .

With the mini craze that has been created by this 'announcement', it seems that the real BIG NEWS just came out of Canada at one of Hunter Harrison's "town hall meetings"... in which CP's new CEO essentially cast the death knell for the 2816,

" "I hate steam engines". The audience chuckled when he said that. "They are expensive to run; the liability is too high and they serve no useful purpose" .

DV

Not surprising given his slash and burn reputation to boost profits. He strikes me as an old school Vanderbilt or Gould type, ready with a direct answer and its his way or the highway and not given to fits of concern over community relations, history or nostalgia. Good for stockholders, doom for mainline steam.

Or maybe he resembles another cheery fellow..that ever so happy go lucky JP Morgan. **** the torpedoes, full speed ahead.

Might be time to dust off the rumor I heard a few years ago that CSX mechanical forces were seen at the B&O Museum during regular business hours with museum officials going over the 1604 and 490 for possible further evaluation for excursion/PR/Offical service...4/1 isn't very far away!

..........I'll admit, I did fall for that one! I was young and dumb then!
