Lionel has come out with some pretty amazing products in their Vision Line. I have one of the latest Vision ATSF Steel-Sided Reefer Sets, and it is such a cool set with great sounds and features. Here's a fairly long wish list of Vision Line models that Lionel should make in the future. I also have a few new feature ideas.
-Feature:
-Rotating Bearing Caps on modern locomotives (ES44, SD70ACe, etc.)
-Vision Line Intermodal Containers/Trailers with sounds
-Bring back the hot box feature in freight cars
Locos:
-UP DDA40X (using MTH's tooling, maybe): Lionel's sound recording team could record UP #6936.
-UP Big Blow 3rd Generation Gas Turbine (MTH tooling)
-Erie/Virginian Triplex (again, MTH tooling): The Virginian #700 version could have updated tooling to make it accurate to the 2-8-8-8-4 wheel arrangement as MTH just made Virginian #700 as an Erie version with Virginian RR livery and road number.
-Siemens Chargers: Multiple tooling versions with all the details; Lionel would need to talk to Siemens about doing these engines.
-Progress Rail/EMD SD70ACe-T4: The Tier 4 version of the SD70ACe; would require new tooling
-Wabtec Battery-Electric Locomotive: I've suggested this one before; the body is built on the frame of an ES44, so new tooling is required only for the body and the trucks, which are ES44C4 trucks with 4 powered axles
-Some more electric engines: New Haven EP5, Milwaukee Road Little Joe, Amtrak ACS-64, Amtrak HHP-8, etc.
-GE ET44AC/ET44C4: The Tier 4 GEVO would require a new frame that would be about 1/3" longer than a standard Lionel ES44 (the real ET44s are about 16" longer than the ES44s); the radiator would need a new tooling, the trucks on the BNSF ET44C4 version need to be made too for correct detail.
-New Vision Line Hudsons: C&O Yellowbelly #490, (Lionel has tooling for this; perfect remake!) NYC Commodore Vanderbilt, NYC, B&A, CP, CN, Milwaukee Road Class F7, ATSF 3450/3460-Classes (including Blue Goose #3460)
-PRR Q1 and Q2 Duplexes (MTH tooling for the Q2)
-PRR T1 Duplex
-Rolling Stock:
-Bring back the Ethanol Tank Cars
-Modern Box Cars
-Modern Reefers
-Other Tank Cars (Tank-Train cars with sounds?)
-Bring back the Triple Crown Roadrailers (Weaver tooling; perhaps add sound in one trailer)
-Bi-Level Commuter Cars, including a Vision Line Cab Car with horn and bell sounds (perfect for some of the Siemens Chargers)
