My Zephyr train is coming together and I'm excited about it. I've done some small tweaks to some otherwise beautiful cars. I have some domes coming my way and by the end (insert Atlas Production-Shipping joke) I expect to have a train like this: baggage- dome-dome-dome-dome/lounge-10/6-10/6-10/6-diner-dome/observation. Hope you guys enjoy them!
First things first. I painted the trucks springs (too shiny) with some silver paint to give the truck a more consistent look.
On the picture below you can see that I also painted silver the copper pickups behind the truck.
I fixed the blinds on my early run cars and mixed them up to get a more random blind height effect.
Of course I always had someone supervising my work...
I love the dining car, the interior is an amazing opportunity to model. I will tackle that at some point.
I noticed that Atlas put brake shoes on the diner and the 16-section. Is that accurate w the prototype?
As has been noticed, the diner's paint job is a little lighter that previous runs. Not a deal breaker for me. I also noticed that the name placards have finer rivets than the first runs. I think the new ones look better, but it doesn't bother me.
I have been tempted to paint the couplers and the coupler boxes silver, but I have not find pictures of how they originally looked. It would be nice to have some information on that
