sound stops over a specific part of the track

I got a new legacy engine and am running it on my layout. It seems to run great on all loops until it runs on my top loop where the sound cuts out at a specific place on the loop. At that spot it is a double tack consisting of the main line and a siding that I have an MTH passenger train parked. Other lionel engines run fine there and all the MTH engines do also. You should know that this is the new S3 that I had to have repaired because of a faulty ground in the tender but since it works on all of the other track I can't see that repair being related to this problem. I am stumped, could it be a ground plain problem? Any ideas?

Is there a switch or better yet series of switches there,wher the "dead spots" of the switch could be lining up with the rollers of the tender causing it to lose power?,installing a battery in the tender will illeviate this problem. Is it possible to hold you hand over the loco when it reaches this spot on your layout? If so, and sound continues while your had is held over the loco you likely have a ground plane problem, there are numerous postings on how to fix this if you do a search.
