Hi Everyone, Just wanted to comment on my Hudson. In reference to the tender lettering I replaced it with the Champ decal lettering. How did I remove the old lettering? I took a dull razor blade and carefully scraped it off. The new lettering covered over that area well enough so as was not so noticeable. Overspraying with dulcote made it undetectable.

The engine number I have #5451 I thought the font looked close enough so did not replace it.

In regards to the lubricator linkage the model followed the drawing so that got missed in checking the drawing, however, my model has it installed correctly. I may have corrected that myself and just forgot about it. It would be no problem to correct that. Just remove it and reinstall it correctly.

I did replace the smokestack with PSC's as I thought it to be too small. On the front top corners of the tender compartments there should be plumbing elbows. I installed PSC's parts for that. On the top of the tender expansion tank to the right of center there should be a hole about 1/8 in or so in diameter with a screen in it. This is where the booster exhaust came out. In conjunction with that there should be plumbing to connect the booster exhaust from the booster to the front of the tender. All these parts are availbale from PSC.

The other thing I did was to replace the windshields as the ones on the models were far too narrow. As I had a part in how this model was produced I apologize for the mistakes all but the lettering. I never had any of it to check and that would not have been missed. If I may say so it is in spite of the mistakes they are not serious and the model was a copy of the PSC produced in 1983, however, there were more serious mistakes with that one which we avoided copying. A nice mode after all!

THAT is the biggest problem, since Champ Decal Co. closed down some years ago. I can not remember the Champ number for the O Scale NYC steam locomotive decal set, but I eventually found what I needed at the Chicago O Scale March Meet, some years ago. When attending O Scale meets, i.e. NOT just "train shows", you just have to keep searching the various decal venders for what you need.

I have a few sets of NYC early (1906-1940) Champ decals. They are E-210. They and complete with lettering for some of the subsidiaries like P&LE. I have been looking for a set of the later style for some time. Sam or anyone that is interested in trading one set for the other, contact me. email in profile.

The item number for the correct Champ decal set is E-10. I would jump for a set too, but a good friend of mine already sent me an extra set and it's currently with Hot Water's custom painter to be applied to the tender. He did have to strip the sides of the tender though (preserved the rear with factory graphics), since Scott has said the original lettering is virtually part of the paint and very permanent. I'm surprised you were able to get it off without too bad of an outline left. And isn't the tender way too flat to match the engine with dullcote? I've used it before, it is absolutely dead flat and the engine is really somewhere between satin and semi-gloss.
