I picked up some 72" curves marked KMT. I was wondering who the manufacturer was.
Thanks,
Bob

Kris Model Trains, typically mid-late 1970's production. They made it in regular and 072 radius curves. Also, regular and 3' straight sections.

KMT quality is good, better than china made track.
They made track for MTH for a while before MTH went to China made track.
I think US track has the dies now.
Any track that is not rusty is good track, I hate cleaning rust off used track.
Good quality track. Most all the modern made tinplate SG track is very good except the recent MTH track. USA Track LLC is the best!

No rust. They just seem to be off a little when I set up a circle of track, not truly round and they all lean towards the inside, like they are super elevated. I am hoping track screws will fix the problem. I did place an order with USA Track yesterday for 87" curves.
Thanks,
Bob
Bob, Are you sure it's the track that's tilted
Bob,
I have had the twisting or inward lean on some of this track. Sometimes it's the tightness of the ties. Usually after a little while of being used it goes away. I've also seen original Lionel track have the same problem from time to time. Of course it's better the camber is in the proper prototypical direction!
Steve, aren't we all twisted?

Pappy, thanks for the reply. You and Steve are probably right. All the other loops lay flat. I put this loop on the floor and it laid funny to my eye. I will try and post a pic tomorrow. Meanwhile, I started to put the track down in a permanent spot. When I connected the half circles to 36" straights the curves settled down somewhat. I have not screwed down the track yet because I'm waiting on 87" curves being delivered in two weeks. Maybe I will screw down some curves in the am. Thanks for your patience,
Bob
Finally have some pics to share. The surface is level for all three curves. Appreciate your feedback.
The bank is perfect for a high speed run.
Steve
Steve, we could have train races on a Saturday Train Night.
Bob
You mean like my buddy Dave did last week?
That is awesome. I could bring those curves and we could have banked turns like Indy cars. On a serious note, I screwed down a couple of pieces and I think they will be ok, at least I'm hoping.
Thanks for all the support,
Bob
Hi Bob
Looks like some kind of classic tubular track. Maybe K-Line, hard to tell from photos.
Hi Bob,
Your track is scheduled to arrive Monday!
(Guaranteed to lie flat!)

Bob,
For what it's worth, I have a loop of KMT STD 72 and it does the same as you describe. I've never screwed it down as its a loop for display on the floor.
I've never had issues with it. Usually the weight of the train pushes it back flat.
Your KMT track won't lie flat because the radii of the rails are incorrect. They probably used rails appropriate for 0 gauge track, which are slightly different than the radii for Standard Gauge track because of the difference in gauge.

Just got back from backpacking on the John Muir Trail. I want to thank everyone for the input and recommending USA Track.
Kirk, the track arrived and it is Awesome! Thank you so much. My birthday present is making the rounds on the 87" curves (400e).
