History has demonstrated that manufacturers do read this Forum to get a pulse of the O-Gauge enthusiasts and what they want in terms of future product. The Station Sounds cars were pricy, when compared to a two-pack (about the same price), but I love them and bought this car to make a full seven car set.

So if Lionel is listening, I sure hope you will continue to make them in the future.

Lionel, please re-release this item for the above!  Thanks.

Amen to that! I'd love a StationSounds car to match my 2012 Crescent Limited set, although I figure I could just buy the 2004 run car and get green tinted windows later...

Nonetheless I really would like to see more StationSounds cars, too. I love the female station announcements and crew dialog.

Though I figure at least the new Neil Young series F-3 sets would have one...

Agreed.  There are 8-10 O-Gauge 18" passenger sets (either already delivered or scheduled for delivery in 2014) by my count that could use a StationSounds add-on.

Although absent for quite some time now, there was a glimmer of hope these might be produced again when the 2013 Signature catalog included StationSounds diners as part of two-pack add-ons for the two Neil Young Signature Line sets (Texas Special and Pennsy).

Doubtful that Lionel would go to the trouble of bring them back for the 15" cars and leave enthusiasts of the 18" and 21" cars out in the cold.  I'd bet the issue is rooted in overseas supplier problems, but I sure hope it's not the same kind of supply issue that's created all kinds of delays for Lionel's 990 Legacy sets.  We'll never see these cars if that's the case.

David, I agree with your statement that issues overseas might be causing many problems for Lionel right now.  It's not just assembly and shipping it's all the components being manufactured by outsourced Chinese factories.  I am waiting for the Neil Young Texas Special set due in April ?????.  I have the two B units in boxes just waiting for the rest of the family.

I know there was a thread recently relating to coming back to US, so we won't go there.  But why doesn't Lionel lease a factory in China (for the cheap labor) and have components made in the USA.  This way Lionel would have better control on parts, electronics, etc.  I believe issues in China for Lionel will get worse instead of better down the road.

Amen to that!  I was running my Vision ethanol cars and my Vision cattle car at a train show last weekend and the cattle car was a *big* hit with the kids.  I definitely want more sound cars, including the StationSounds diners.

Roll Your Own Station Sounds Diner

It helps if you have some of the parts, I just bought the station sounds boards and raided my junkbox for the rest of the parts.

There are of course exceptions.

I seem to recall the Empire State Express variety (Century Club 2) had train specific announcements.

I don't recall if any of the others I've got have specific announcements or just generic announcements.
