My dad used to work there and I barely remember the old tank cars coming into the Lewiston, NY plant. I believe the company lasted into the eighties or later elsewhere, yet I don't see any pics of their more recent tank cars?, other than the old fashion (toy) models. I'm wondering if anyone has pics or knows where I could look for them if they existed? Were they just leased and not painted?
There is a hopper available in the smaller scales decorated for Stauffer that looks modern.

I only remember black looking tank cars rolling into the plant in the afternoon. I don't remember seeing the trains leave. I bet they shipped in the mornings and I wasn't there.

Did your dad's plant make chlorine and caustic soda or did they make specialty chemicals?
Well, as best as I remember he spoke of accidents in the chlorine dept. They also made carbon tetrachloride I think? Not sure of what else was produced there.
Update: I spoke with my brother who told me they just made spec chemicals at that site. They used chlorine in one of their processes. My uncle worked at a competitor. My dad would make cracks about a product being "pure caustic". I worked there later on.
