I have a WVP&P Shay that used to have PS1, but had been upgraded to PS2 in 2005. One of the upgrade "features" was that the headlight is always on (with track power of course). The two tether wires that would normally control the headlight were used to control the front coupler instead.
If there is room, would the addition of a mux board allow me to control the lights and coupler in the shay?
The sound file is from the PS2 Elk River Shay made in 2003 which might have had additional lights, and I know the 2005 WM Shay has selectable marker and headlights. So I think I have some options if the ps2 board needs software support for controlling a mux board. However, I haven't been able to find wiring info on the mux boards, how to use them or what is required on the PS2 board.
I might just make up a 12 or more conductor cable between the tender and engine. The MTH Shays are more or less permanently attached, and I don't really need to stay compatible with anything.
I had also found part BC-1100035 "16 Pin Harness for Shay" at a online store that sells MTH parts. If I can find a socket for the engine, I might be able to use that.
Any suggestions on getting the coupler and headlight working via DCS commands on this engine would be appreciated.
