Theresa and I are going to Steamtown tomorrow. I'm off, and there is no admission fee in honor of Martin Luther King. I've been to Steamtown several times, but never took the inside tour of the roundhouse and repair facility.

The fees are also waved for Presidents Day February 16th. The website http://www.nps.gov/stea/index.htm lists dates and times.

There are Senior life time National Park Passes available, that allow entrance to all National Parks, Historic Sites, and fee areas.  Our recent trip west with a Trail Life USA group, saw free entrance, for a (9) passenger van, with the pass, at the Grand Canyon, Bryce Canyon, and Zion National Parks. I've used my Senior Park pass several times at Steamtown. Enjoy the shop tour, check shop tour schedules before you go. Entrance fee gets you access to most of the facilities, but the shop is restricted to guided tours, most likely, twice a day.

April, 2016, issue of Hemmings, the antique car "bible", has an article on Steamtown, some of its exhibits, and its history, from N. Hampshire to Vermont to Pa., and highly recommends it.  This issue, also mentions the Strasburg, Pa. Railroad Museum of Pa., which will host a gathering of "brass", (1915 and prior) vintage cars, in May,  expected to be the largest such gathering on the east coast.
