After a very long wait my Strasburg #90 arrived today. It was super well packed. It is mounted on its own stand and is securely fastened to the stand with several wing nuts. The detailing is very intricate but appears quite sturdy. It took me quite a while to unpack. Velcro straps hold the cover to the stand. Lots of foam padding and the cover over the stand allows enough space so that nothing is touching the engine and tender when the cover is on. It is really impressive looking! Yes it was costly, and I had to wait over two years for this day but it seems worth it. It might be awhile before I give it a workout! My problem now is to run, or nor to run it. I've had the complete set of cars for this engine for well over a year. It looks so great on the stand that came with it, I just want to admire it for now. Thought you might like a picture! Anyone else receive one? Would like to hear your thoughts and impression. If you have run it, any comments would be appreciated as well. Looks like there is a piece of packing I missed under the front of truck of the Tender.

Beautiful!
Looks like Lionel has adopted the MTH method of securing the higher end locomotive. That’s an improvement in itself…

Looks great! Looking forward to seeing it run.
OK, I'm going to have to start bugging Harry to get mine in!
Very nice! Run it!
To paraphrase a plastic toy Spock in an episode of the Big Bang theory about taking a mint in box toy out and playing with it, it is only logical to take the toy out of the box and play with it, as that is what it was made to do. If your #90 has a loco soul, it is asking you why you are leaving me on the shelf, I want to make miles.
Your comment is definitely food for thought. I have to admit I only displayed my O Scale Polar Express engine when I first got it many years ago. That didnt last long as it hit the rails a month or two later and I have been using it ever since. I'm sure that will happen with #90 given I have the set of cars for it. I was looking at the instruction booklet last night and the number of options as to what to use to run these engines has expanded. I guess there is no modules needed any more for Legacy. Have not bought an engine in awhile. I have used the Lionel app to run my CNJ Red Baron and it works just fine and was easy to use.
Happy Thanksgiving!

What nobody bought the 1020 version? Maybe Lionel hasn't gotten around to shipping that version yet. The 1020 is the version I favored but the 1050 was a virtual tie due to the tender.
Yes it was the tender logo that sold me on the 1050. I have a special memory of #90. In Jan 1981 I was invited to be on the last run of the Pullman Car, Lotos Club which was which was being donated to the Pennsylvania Railroad Museum. We left on a special train from Penn Station NY. The consist was a GG1 pulling the Lotos Club. There were many rail fans along the entire route taking pictures. When we arrived near Strasburg #90 came out and pulled the Lotos club to the entrance of the museum where a small switch engine took over and got the Lotos Clum into the museum. So #90 gave me a very special memory that day.
It does look great, @whistlebell1 My vote is to admire it on the stand for a day. Tomorrow take it off the stand, put it on the layout, couple to those Strasburg cars you have, and have a great time running it!! Please post a video!!!
