Hey everyone. I thought I would share some photos and videos I took at the Strasburg Railroad this past weekend. N&W 475 and CN 89 were running and passing each other at Strasburg since the mainline is ripped out at Cherry Hill allowing only one train to pass the Cherry Hill station at one time.

On a side note, GW 90 is back in the engine house and will be finished up over the winter with a spring 2016 fireup slated.

Feel free to share any pics or videos you have from the Strasburg Railroad in general as well!

Well, it seems like quite a few OGRers might have made the trip.  We made it yesterday with four grandkids and their parents.  I took a lot of pics and some videos but mostly of the kids.  Maybe I'll see if I have any real "train" videos I can add to this collection.  It was a beautiful day.  I suspect the old Strasburg RR had a banner day.  Good for them.  A great attraction preserving our history.

Is the Strasburg still doing steam freight?

YES! In fact, if you go to my youtube channel, you'll see a video I took two week ago of the CN 89 pulling into the yard with a freight. My two friends work there and I am going to ask them if they know the freight schedule so I can catch one.

I am very happy to see the railroad having success with the freight business. I'm certain if they didn't have that option eventually the strasburg railroad would either turn the way of the EBT or raise their ticket prices significantly.

You should have said hi!!! I was the guy walking around with a tripod and a camera bag while wearing a bright red jacket. I'm pretty sure I stuck out like a sore thumb.

It was a gorgeous day. I went to Cherry Hill to catch the CN 89 take an assault on the 1.3% grade and it was beautiful to see a steam locomotive charging hard in 70 degree weather in December.

Jim, as I stood there looking across the road at the Railroad Museum o Pennsylvania, I was thinking the exact same thing.  Locomotives like the K4 and 'Old Rivets' need to be not just "saved".  They need to be restored and displayed in all their past glory.  I can only hope I'm around to see it happen.  Our consolation is, at least, they were not scrapped as so many others were.
