I have one of these remarkable engines and would like to get as much information on the model from anyone that has owned, repaired/one or who knows someone that has, especially how to lubricate the gear boxes, running/operational issues and any modifications or repairs that were required. My goal is to run the engine 0n 80-84 radius curves. I have seen the ads and some information on the engine in O Scale News Vol. 13-14 1983 and 1984.

Thank you.

Dear Dan,

I have sent some photos of the Sunnyside T1 #5505 Portholes version , P85 Coach , and N5C Cabin car - the entire Sunnyside line produced by Kodama. The T1 coast drive gearboxes were designed by Henry Bultman.

The principles of Sunnyside were- Bennett Levin (with son's Eric and Dean) , Bob Zawarski , Fran Pfeil and George Kushner. Al Small was a distributor for the Sunnyside Models.

Total number of pieces imported 1983-84 as follows:

25 PRR T1 Porthole version

25 PRR T1 Non Porthole version

200 P85 Coaches

200 N5C Cabin Cars

Info above obtained from Fran Pfeil to the best of his recollection.

It is a shame the PRR H10s project never materialized nor the CNJ T-38 4-6-0 Camelback.

Fran Pfeil has all the parts to construct a PRR H10s- you just need the boiler and mechanism . He and George Kushner are at all Strasburg shows- next one 08/12/2017.

As a 27 year old O scaler is was great fun to rub elbows with these modelers and am very proud to own these fine examples in my PRR collection as my age (and income) grew to afford these pieces.

BTW, they also run great!!!

I think Bill Davis can fill in some blanks in the Sunnyside history as he was a Philly boy at the time.

Thank you for enquiring about these models.

John;

Thanks for the information and great pictures. I also have the porthole version. Fran and I had a good conversation about the engine yesterday. I would like to have a further discussion with you when you get a chance. I am out of town now but will e-mail you to get your phone#.

Thank you.

Dan

Dear List,

The PRR MOW cars are indeed Al Small and George Kushner cast models. Al is old school and does not have a computer but I would be more than happy to share his phone number if you email me to speak to him about these and future PRR MOW models.

Dan, Thank you for asking about these models. These were produced truly as a labor of love and deserve there place in the annals of O Scale 2 rail history.

I also thank Franny Pfeil for his allowing me to communicate and share his history  and anecdotal  comments  of Sunnyside Models to you all.

John
