I've asked Scott to add D&RGW yellow jacket/bumblebee/honeybee yellow stripe black and aspen gold schemes.  I've also asked him to remove Amtrak before anyone gets any ideas about fantasy schemes.

If you want to reserve any other PA schemes not listed email Scott direct.  Putting it here and not asking directly is a waste of electrons.

Also putting things you would like to see done is a waste of electrons and doesn't pay the bills.

Others have reserved the D&RGW Aspen scheme so that has been added to the website.  As no one else has reserved the black yellow stripe D&RGW version that has not been added yet.

The demonstrator version is only available from me and will not be available through Sunset.

There will be two basic versions, a PA1 phase I and a PA2 phase II.  There was never a PA3 or 4.

Stephan, where did I say anything about making generic versions? At some point we will have to decide which version we will use for a given road, since some of them had both. The differences between PA-1 and PA-2s are details on the roof and some cab window treatments. We will not make GENERIC versions.

Awesome Scott! 3-rail scale and Fixed pilots! (maybe pilot coupler doors too?)

I've just reserved a Union Pacific PA & PB plus I also added a matching GGD 6-car Harriman passenger set.  I can't wait to see more details....

Quick  poll for all you UP fans who might be ordering the PA-PB sets in UP colors:  Would you like to see the trucks painted Grey (1948-1955) or Silver (mid-fifties on)?

My preference is the as delivered Grey color. I can't quite tell from the illustration on 3rd Rail's site but they look to be silver? Mine is just one opinion but I think the silver truck versions have been done to death. Ultimately it comes down to what 3rd rail wants to produce based on feedback for what will sell.

I've emailed Scott my questions.

Very excited about these models!!

I need to do a bit of self correction here because there never were officially PA phases.  So,  the two basic types we are working towards are 1) DL304/5A and 2) the DL304/5D.  That is Alco's nomenclature.  DL304/5A and B's were PA1s, DL304/5Cs and D's were called PA2s.  The D occurred when the turbocharger was changed over from the earlier air cooled version (from the P47 fighter) to the water cooled version in production.  This is when the exhaust was moved from the longitudinal to the transverse position and the grills were changed from horizontal to simpler stamped vertical variety.  As most, if not all, the A-C's were upgraded to the water cooled turbo and a few had the grills also modified it will depend on the specifics of the paint to determine which is which.

Don't worry... wait long enough and some "expert" will come along and critique every word you wrote.

I think the most difficult decision of my adult life is gonna be which road(s) to buy.   The beauty of wanting a "run what you brung" garden railroad for fun and a P:48 RR inside for the rivet counter.

So long as they are constructive and add to the conversation and potentially improve the finished model I am all for it.

A bit churlish, no?

Seems a mighty combative "these **** customers are such a bleedin' nuisance!" attitude.

The point was people who want to see things mean exactly what they say and therefore are not customers, they just want to see something.

As far as couplers go, to date, the Kadee coupler mounts are part of the chassis and therefore have little to do with either the trucks or the pilots.   It is necessary to remove the truck mounted couplers before installing the fixed mounts as they interfere with each other.

I corresponded with Scott Mann yesterday about offering a Gulf, Mobile & Ohio version of the ALCo PA. GM&O rostered 3 PA1's, #s 290, 291 and 292 in a handsome maroon, red and black with gold lettering scheme. He indicated that he might offer it if enough interest was expressed. If any GM&O fans or anyone else who would like to see a model in this attractive livery want to see it produced, I suggest you e-mail Mr. Mann directly. Btw, the attached photo, which I found on the internet, really does not do full justice to this paint scheme.

Scott is sending out the first round of PA cancellations.  No one else reserved the black and yellow DRGW so that never showed up and is canceled.  Those on the chopping block include Cotton Belt. LV, Southern, Wabash, PRR 1 stripe, SP Gray, and DRGW 1 stripe.  None have more than 5 reservations.  If you still want them done bad enough you can reserve the 20 minimum.  I would guarantee the SP gray but I can't afford those and the demos.  Speaking of which,

If you have not reserved demos from me as of this date please reserve directly with Scott.  It is less confusing for all if I just guarantee the minimum.  Those that have already reserved them with me are taken care of.
