Far as I know Super O switches work with up to 042 stuff at times. To use with an 072 engine, I would say go to that track size, as you are asking for trouble with anything smaller then 072 curves.

Atlas probably makes a switch in 072, so I would go with an Atlas switch.

 

You can have an inside run of Super O track but don't use the larger engines or freight cars with it.

 

I have an inside track with S gauge trains.

problems, problems..I try to squeeze some 042 through them, and it gets to be a nightmare. Sometimes the wheels short out(definately on the steamers) and sometimes the passenger cars and engines bump the switch machine. The track is fabulous on the straightaway, and you may get through some curves with 042, but stay away from the switch machines.
