I always chuckle when someone says try Microscale. I've talked to the owner of Microscale (as well as others) and the answer is always the same: O scale decals DO NOT SELL.

That same answer applies to many other "I wish they made this" threads. It's not that Microscale or any other company wouldn't sell a few: They need to sell enough in a timely manner to pay for the investment and make a profit. As the owner of Microscale said to me, an original run decal set that is in stock for 5 years has now lost money.

That said, Microscale has slowly been re-introducing some decals in O scale on a limited basis. I'm sure if they don't see sales results, this won't continue.

Bob, I always advise people BEFORE you start a repaint project, check for decals FIRST.

BUT depending on what C&O style you are looking for, you might be in luck. There's two other companies (in addition to LBR's custom made decals) currently making O scale decals: Highball Graphics and Industrial Models.

Industrial Models has one single set of PS-1 C&O Box Car decals. Maybe this is exactly what you are looking for Bob, in which case, will make your day.

Select "vintage" and then scroll down for the C&O box car. The best selection of O scale decals available right now between Industrial and Highball.

Im on a mission. I have repainted 14 MTH premier 40' boxcars for C&O. Im looking for a good supplier to get 14 sets of decals that would be somewhat appropriate. Anyone have any suggestions?? Ive tried e-bay so far no luck. Any help would be appreciated..

Protocraft has decals for C&O boxcars.

Good call MWB. I have them bookmarked but forgot about them.

Scroll down to box cars and they have 3 different C&O schemes, so hopefully Bob, you'll find something "somewhat appropriate."

For anyone else who thinks they might need decals, it'd be a good idea to bookmark these 3 other sites. Also periodically check the Microscale home page (or sign up for their email newsletter as I have), as that's where they announce new/re-issue decal sets.

I find the O gauge decal suppliers always complain the market isn't big enough yet of what they do offer, they are usually low to out. So the potential customer ends up having to wait and wait and wait maybe forever before the next run.

I find that it works to buy the needed decal in HO then put it on a color printer to blow it up to O size then when you happy with the color and sharpness feed the printer a sheet of decal paper.
