Survey of SensorTrack applications that you've implemented

I trigger a lot of accessories off mine.  I have a hobo tower that plays music that one sensor track triggers. 

I've done a record where the engine backs up slow ringing the bell, stops parked and shuts off the bell.

I just ordered two LCS Sensor Tracks (which arrived just before Christmas) for my new layout that I'll be starting soon. I plan on having a total of three STs. I have Lionel's new Base 3 on order, so I will use that to power my LCS STs. The first two will be placed on the mainlines (1 per loop). The 3rd will be used near the loco servicing facility.

My mainline STs will be used to trigger crossing gate horn blows before trains pass through a 2-track RR Crossing. The loco servicing ST will be for programing any new Legacy locomotives, as well as triggering arrivals into, and departures from, the facility. STs also tell a Legacy Remote the current fuel levels of engines passing over a Sensor Track, which is cool. If you look at the manual for the ST, there is a list of preset commands that you can program into STs on your layout. Sean of Sean's Train Depot on Youtube has 3 great videos about ST features and recording.

If you have the LCS Wi-fi Module (the Base 3 has Wi-fi and will work too when it arrives sometime next year) and an Apple I-Pad, you can use the LCS App to make a control panel of your layout. Putting a ST icon on the LCS App display and setting it up to match the TMCC ID of the physical device will allow the app to track the location of locos on your layout in real time. The app will display the TMCC ID, direction, and name of each loco that passes over the ST.

Thanks for the replies so far but I must say I'm underwhelmed by the number of responses.  Kinda almost leads me to believe there is some serious untapped potential in SensorTracks.  Either that or its the Holiday Season and not many are online.

Would love to hear your stories regarding SensorTrack implementations; large and small.

Yes I agree that there is serious untapped potential.  Google "Intelino" to get an idea of the complexity that's possible with a $100 toy.  I've been saying for years that Lionel needs to create some demos, a new showrom layout, or a "killer app" to showcase what's possible with LCS.

I have been planning a complex layout.  One challenge that I'll have to face, is that I won't be using Fastrack.  So I'll be digging those LCS sensors out and figuring out a way to adapt them to another brand's track system.  *fun*

The IRV2 is designed to be used with another brand of track system.  If you can find them...

I've used them to put a sensor in various Fastrack curves. Just mill a slot and mount the sensor.

Ted S…..I just bought an LCS track before Christmas but did not realize there are 2 variations, a Fastrack piece and a piece with 3 pins for tubular.  I bought the tubular-compatible version but I have all Fastrack.  So I will need to mate it with 2 transition pieces, which i was hoping to avoid.

I removed standard sendor guts from Fastrack to mount under tubular track.
