I love the end cab switchers. Here are some of my favorites.

A MTH 0-4-0 on spotting duty.
Yep, a good runner. One of these days it will head to the paint shop for a Spokane Portland & Seattle paint job.
Like many railroads, the D&H purchased a good number of end-cab switchers during the transition period from steam to diesel power. However, they soon decided that road switcher diesels (like the ALCo RS3, for example) would better serve their needs, so they quickly sold off all of their end-cab units. Long story short, the photos below represent a typical "switcher" for the D&H!
This was a fun weekend thread, we'll have to do another next week.
I did get a couple of my steam switchers running on my "hollow wood door" layout, hope you all enjoy and thanks again to everyone who participated and posted pictures, video, and comments!
Best...Rich
I, for one, regret the demise of this thread:
Sorry for the loss of your friend.

Gentlemen,
My favorite switcher was never made in O gauge, it's the old Union RailRoad Green Switcher with White Trim, the URR Blue's are pretty cool, but the #1 NASA Red/Black & Gray with White Switcher, has them beat!

Not too late to join in, I hope.

Here's my favorite, Belt Railway of Chicago!

Are those MTH?
Here's my Lionel ex-Western Pacific Alco S-2. It is now in Weirton Steel livery and hauling a few Lionel slag cars.

Here is a tribute to my friend Henry Pearce (RIP):
Henry took over Hines Lines many years ago, then spent his leisure time trying to make ever more perfect fixtures. Production suffered, but if Henry liked you he could make absolutely perfect O Scale drivers, or supply exquisite lost-wax castings from masters made by Ray Waller and others skilled in the art. His contribution to the hobby continues at Stevenson Preservation Models to this day - over 80 years of history in O Scale.
