It's #SwitcherSaturday time!!!!

Lots of us out there love switchers (shifters, docksiders, yard goats, critters, etc.), so lets keep #SwitcherSaturday (a.k.a. SWSAT) rolling!

If you missed last week's SWSAT you missed a ton of fun!

This week I'm "all in" on old C&O/B&O switchers, so here's a picture of my Lionel 0-4-0 #39 C&O Steam Switcher and a few B&O pics I found online.

I also have a giant MTH C&O Berkshire which I need to get out of the box one of these days and exercise!  I also of course have a couple B&O diesels, maybe next week I'll show you all those things again!

I hope everyone has a great weekend. There's tons to do for train geeks like us down here in Maryland today, I might even get a chance to do some of them (Greenberg show in Timonium, lots of "train gardens" and open houses).

Best...Rich Murnane

p.s. Miss the post on Saturday? NO BIG DEAL, just keep posting pictures of your favorites until the next #SwitcherSaturday

Yay Happy SWSat!

Wow Rich! High Tech this week. I love the new call board.

I haven't posted this Beep yet. It is a Bangor and Aroostook down from up north with another load of toys from as far north as you can get.IMG_3818IMG_3816IMG_3819

It seems that there is a pusher unit on this train too but he seems to be deadheading. The deception Astrotrain in his bot mode seems to be hitching a ride. IMG_3817IMG_3820

Sharp eyed SWSat-ears might notice that I lowered the floor on my shelf sence my post last weekend. The space was too small to fit some of my flats and I cut the bookshelf down a bit to accommodate more room.  The Bing water tower on the far left in the bottom shot was touching the ceiling last week. I gained a good 6 inches of head room.

Have a great weekend guys.

Happy Switcher Saturday everyone!

Rich, Nice technology usage there. Very cool! Rich, I have one of those C&O switchers gotten before I was bitten by the semi-scale Pennsy steam switcher bug.

Andy/Silver Lake, great looking little Beep!

My contribution today is one of those Prisma edited photos done on my tablet. Yes, I think I am slightly addicted to that app.

nice touch Rich.

Tom that looks like an old pic you 'd find in an antique shop. Have a great weekend guys and keep warm.

here are some switchers that have seen better days, such as PRR 1345, cab windows boarded up, stack cap, and holes(?) in the smokebox door.

SP 121  looks to be in a dead line, missing some parts.

It was a nice fall day in 1949 when the yard foreman realized he had a problem.  He needed to move a cut of Merchandise Service cars out to the departure track but had no switchers available.

The A4 and 44T did not have enough traction for this job, the B6 was shunting a work train out to the north end of the yard to get that @#*% C1 back on the rails, and the B28 and VO-1000 were in the shop.  His normal backups, a H10, G5 and SW-1 were all out running locals.  Another option, a L1, was cold and would take too much time to fire up.  He looked at the day's track orders and saw there were a couple of I1s fired up to move a coal drag of empties back to the Hole in the Ground mine, so he directed one of them to move the MS consist.  It had to use the south ladder because those switches could handle the big decapod.  Not efficient, but it got the job done.

Love the scenery. Is that a little test diorama?

I see Buzz, Han and R2 are on board. You need a droid socket in the calf unit and you could work both sides of the train.

I am going to take my one and only 2 rail equipment to run today on the NYSME layout. It is a 0-4-0T from ETS. Pretty funny. We shall see how it goes.

It is a little diorama that I use to take outside for pics when I add some life to a car.  Han is actually a Beep Wally but he does look like Han Solo, thanks for pointing that out.

Good luck at the NYSME layout today .  Nick T

Dave, Nice photo! The old Rod Stewart song comes to mind, "Every picture tells a story." I am guessing that the holes are a result of the number plate being cut off. To me, on my tablet at least, it looms like the builder's plate is gone. So is the bell. Surprisingly, the whistle and generator (behind the headlight) seem to be there, but covered up. Maybe they are to be protected for future cannibalization to support another locomotive(s).

Rich, Glad your daughters seem to still enjoy dad's train hobby/fascination/addiction!

For your first photo, the #1656 is actually postwar, but they can be good little runners.

The B6 #228 B6 (prewar) priced at $1200 seems high to me in today's market.

Enjoy your Marx tower. Let's see some photos after you place it in its final spot.

Hey Bruce, nothing came home with me besides two cute kids and that little Marx tower.  I've yet to put power to it, I'll let you know how it goes.

I like that Geep, much better looking than any SD-anything for sure! ;-)

If I had my way, the GP9 would go forward into the past a bit, Rich.   But then, what patriotic Canadian would paint over such an iconic logo?  Do you know, I can recall an elementary school class ( roughly grade 4 or 5 ) where we were taught all about Allan Flemming and his wonderful wet noodle.  It was wildly acclaimed for it's simplicity and symbolic meaning.

Not being much of a Marxist, exactly what does the signal tower do?...I mean, besides short out your Fastrack.    It sure is in pristine condition.

Wow Mike!!  A WT Rs1.  Im totally envious.  It looks great drilling your tank cars!

I had a WT Rs1 just like yours, however, it kept malfunctioning right out of the box.  It went back to Atlas several times but they could not get it right. The dealer wanted to give me my money back but I bought a Pennsy Arrow Train instead.   I've been looking for an WT Rs1 though.  Have fun with yours!!! Thanks for sharing the photo!!!

Hello fellow SWSAT friends!  I'm late to the party once again.  Once again, you all have shared some wonderful photos !! Bravo!!!  .... and info too!!!

I was at the Greenberg Show in Timonium, Md. today too Rich.   Found some great deals on two Weaver B&O wagon top boxcars ( been wanting these for a while now ) and two Weaver B&O Tofcee trailers and flatcars.  Came home with the entire quartet!  I also bought a truck hauling Christmas trees which is in the photos.

Here are some photos of my B&O SW9 bringing the new quartet of cars into Patsburg .... spotting the wagon tops ( full of Christmas trees ) on the team track ... and switching the TOFCEE cars too.   Have a great weekend everyone and enjoy your trains!!!!  Tis the season !!! IMG_1917IMG_1921IMG_1925IMG_1926IMG_1922IMG_1930IMG_1929IMG_1933IMG_1937IMG_1940
