Hi Folks,  I will be visiting Sydney next month and I would appreciate suggestions of what to see and do for O gauge model railroading.  I am with a tour group so my time is very limited but I hope to visit some hobby shops, ride some real trains, etc.

Thanks for your suggestions.   Joe

Joe, as I have advised in my reply to your email, my shop is presently closed to visits as I'm moving it to my new location in the country, where my new layout will also be.

However, my club, AMRA, is in Sydney, in the southern inner suburb of Mortdale, about 20mins from the airport. The full address is 48 Barry Ave Mortdale 2223.

Here is our opening schedule for February.

If you wish to mainly see the O gauge, then Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays are best.

Here's a link to the club website. http://www.amransw.asn.au/findus/index.html

If you're inclined to catch a few rays, dip your toes in the WEST Pacific, and see some other gorgeous Australian sights(), check out Bondi Beach...an easy drive from Sydney.

(I've always wondered whether 'hanging by your feet, upside down' all your life affects the genes.)

If you find yourself closer to Melbourne and have a railfan itch, check out Puffing Billy.

Enjoy the L -O-N-G flight over.  Suggest stopping in Hawaii for a couple days on the return to help reset the body-clock.

Bon Voyage.

dkdrd:  Thank you for your suggestions.  My wife and I are with a tour group so our days are very full.  We are going to Cairns for some snorkeling on the coral reef.  I am looking forward to getting my feet wet.

Joe
