This summer, I set out to see some Pittsburgh shortlines I have always wanted to visit, but could never find time for a full day treatment. After some research, I determined that the BT-3 job offered the best combination of scenery, timeliness, and chaseability. The line is famous for its 3 large trestles (now steel instead of wood) near Chicora, PA, between Butler and the petrochemical refineries at Petrolia. The usual power for the train is Rochester Southern slug set 3807/807, supplemented by another Geep, usually a GP40-2. On the day I went in May, the 3807 showed off its K5LA (probably borrowed frm POHC 1547) as it led southbound, a first for YouTube (most of the clips I have seen show 807 leading south).
