I recently purchased a Legacy ten wheeler, and decided to turn on the smoke. I put 18 drops of smoke fluid down the stack, and 18 drops in the hole adjacent to the whistle. Turning on smoke (on low) on the hand held produces plenty of smoke from the stack; however, no smoke from the whistle. The manual I received with the loco does not cover whistle steam/smoke, so I'm not sure if there is more I should be doing.

Is anybody getting whistle steam/smoke from their Legacy ten wheeler? If so, is there something else I should be doing to get it to work?

ALL the fluid goes into the smoke stack.  It is a double unit for the smoke and whistle.

There is a plastic tube running from the smoke whistle chamber back to the whistle hole.

You now have a lot of smoke fluid in the tube preventing smoke from getting thru.

Turn the engine upside down to attempt to get the fluid to run out of the whistle hole.

I just ran the 4-6-0 for the first time. The whistle smoke is nice except that it doesn’t come out of the the whistle! That hole in the boiler really doesn’t cut it.
But I have another question that I feel like a fool for asking since I’ve been building layouts for over 50 years and TMCC since the beginning. The instructions for the ten wheeler says that you press the “set” button to set the number for the loco. But there is no “set” button on a CAB-1, which I use ( and have used for all of Lionel K- Line locos. What obvious thing am I missing?  Also does it matter whether I leave the Bluetooth on or off?  Thanks

The "Set" button should be under the little plastic cover at the bottom of the CAB-1.  Slide it down to reveal the Set and momentum buttons.

It's often befuddled me why they put a cover over those buttons.  They came to their senses with the Legacy CAB2, but retained it for the CAB1L.  First thing I do is remove those covers and stash them in one of my parts boxes!

Many of the models with whistle steam are the same way.  A few have actually run the smoke through the whistle, but the tiny hole tends to get blocked, so for reliability, the hole in the boiler is better.
