I have a Rev L TIU and when I add an engine on my setup track they are usually found, if not they are recovered and reset. I do not get the (T) ,when adding an engine. However, when I try to run the engine on the layout the (T) shows up and I have to tether the remote to the TIU . I opened the TIU and made sure the RF board was seated. I have looked at Barry's book but I did not find anything discussing this problem. I admit I scanned the book quickly. The remotes are not spring chickens but both were upgraded to 6.10. What is going on?

Here is part of one of Barry's forum replies:
*SOLVED - With Video. MTH DCS Remote Lags very slow or reads - Out of RF Range (2nd remote works just fine)
It could be that the remote's transceiver board has worked its way loose and is intermittently loosing contact with the remote's main board.
Try tethering (connecting) the remote to the TIU's Remote Input port with a 4-conductor telephone handset (curly) cable and see if things improve. If they do, it's almost certainly a loose remote transceiver board. In that case, you can proceed to open the remote and reseat the transceiver board.
Doesn't "T" mean that the remote is already tethered?
Susan: Thanks for the info. I do not have Barry's latest book. I guess I'm going to have to get it.
RJR: On my system it shows up with out the remote tethered to the TIU.
Never experienced that. Look into port on remote. Are contacts touching?
