That popular layout in Germany

Saw this before but it is really impressive. That video is about the operating airport with only glimpses of model train tracks around the outskirts of the airport. The trackless operating vehicles are really good; presumably they are moved by a hidden magnetic mechanism?

I'd love to see this in person.....but it must be the most posted subject, between fan video and official video, in history. I have seen it post on every BB I am on regardless if the BB is model, real car or even graphics related. 

The one you posted was from 2011 and the airport had been in operation for a while then as there are earlier ones posted too.

From waht I have seen and read the moving vehicles are modified Faller units. Self contained units powered by small batteries. They have upgraded them so they self diagnose low batteries and 'park' on a recharge station.....then take off again. The Faller units follow a steel wire under the roads and the Hamburg vehicles do to but have much more sophisticated electronics.

I actually will be there on this sunday (Easter).  Maybe I should bring them some Super O!  for the new O Gauge display :-)

Just goes to show what can be accomplished in HO!
