Thought I would kick this off since everyone is getting a look at the new catalog. For me personally, Ryan was kind to me a didn't put any new Conrail motive power in this one. However I was caught by a few things that might be coming home.

A&WP 290- This is a sleeper locomotive that I wish we would have spent more time on during the catalog show. Notable because of it's role in the film Fried Green Tomatoes. The more I look at this, the more I like it. One of my favorite parts of having a non prototypical railroad is I don't need an excuse to run this.

Vision Line baggage car- I am intrigued by the sound sets that this car might offer. I'm hopeful that we get to see a production sample sometime before the locomotives arrive.

Cabooses with cupola cam. These are a nice compliment to the theater car and also allow you to look out over the front of the train. Nice price as well!

Those are a few of my personal favorites so far. What did you find that you like?

Im glad I read some details!  Now it says you can run anything bluetooth with the LC universal remote since the LC and LC engines are on bluetooth channels already!  So this opens up Legacy engines to run like LC+.  You can get some of the high quality and cool features without buying a control system!

Oh and my wife will love the Peanuts boxcars!   I like them too!  Not much offered for Southern..

I was going to order any new American Freedom Train cars listed, but there are none.  Getting worried they may not make any more.  If they don't make at least the two showcase cars, the set is worthless to me.  However, my Weaver H10 will get a stable mate when I get Lionel's.  Not sure which version yet, but no cars.

I guess the title of the thread "What are you ordering" is lost on some. Maybe someone should start a thread "What are you going to gripe about".

Not much this time. The new IVR2 to play with. An universal sensor platform. Most likely a PRR Copula cam. If the 2-6-6-2s has Pittsburgh and West Virginia I would have been in trouble.

A much better looking catalog to say the least. I'm sure I'll find 1 or 2 more things. Love all the new sets especially the Super Chief.

Lionel has updated the P.E. lettering so it's now below the windows for all scales of their P.E. line. Also, have reissued some of their previous traditional O scale P.E. cars giving them snowy roofs and colored window silhouettes to match their most recent P.E. Bluetooth set.
The camera mounted cupola caboose cars look interesting, too.

The H10 Consolidation sounds like something for me. I'm not the biggest Pennsy fan, but at $750 MSRP, that's really sweet.

Maybe the Lehigh Valley SW7 or Susie-Q SD45. Tempting being a Jersey guy. The latter is even priced $50 less than the first run of SD45's.

If I was loaded, I'd definitely get the Niagara. The NYC passenger cars look very tempting though...

I will probably pre-order a Pennsy H10, not sure which number yet. A note to those complaining about high prices the H10 lists for $750. in the 2015 MTH catalog they had H10s list price $900 and no steam whistle. I am sure I can find a dealer to give me a 20% discount which brings the price down to $600. Not bad with a steam whistle and possibly a swinging bell however I think the swinging bell is a typo. That's a small boiler on the H10 how can all that fit.

I will also order the GLa Hopper Coal Goes to War 3 pack. Don't know about the Camera Caboose, I don't think the Pennsy had extended vision cabooses. Great idea and at $125 bucks list that is a great price. Plus on rolling stock I would look for 30% off.

Great Catalog even though it did not have a Legacy Pennsy T1 in it.

I believe this is one of the best catalogs I have seen in a long time. I am from northeast PA so the LV SW7, the two D&H U33's, the two Susie Q SD45's (my NY obsession) and the PRR coal hauling set look very promising. The sound equipped tank cars and PRR baggage cars also look great.......No gripes about the offerings but the pricing is another issue.......tough to decide this time.

I frequently feel like the kid looking at the goodies through a window. A nice effort by Lionel on the catalog but not a lot for me. As a confirmed conventional/PW guy I’m used to this. Really wish they’d offer more things in the PWC/CC series but I know that’s not likely to happen. Yes, there’s the Green PW-inspired Alco set but I already have that from 2017-V1!

The one thing I eventually might order is one of the LC+ FA AA sets. That New Haven livery looks great (another carry-over from last year).

I usually let a good week or two go by and then revisit a new catalog. Sometimes you spot things that get overlooked at first glance.

I am glad that they are doing the PE add-ons with the snow, NOT because I want them but because others do.  I hope to see folks selling off their old PE cars to get the new ones, and I need to complete our second set for my younger son, and perhaps the prices will drop on the used, plain-roofed ones  ;-)

I'm very excited about this catalog.  I'll be getting a bunch of stuff.  I'm new to the hobby and have very little to start with.  Still deciding on additional accessories but at minimum I'll order the following:

SW7: Frisco 6-85025

GP9: Wabash Torpedo 6-84280

Anheuser-Busch Clydesdale LionChief Set 6-84754

Budweiser Bar & Grill 6-84794

Budweiser Reefer 6-85248

NW2: LionChief Plus MKT 6-85059

RS3: Peabody Short Line 6-84698

Hopper 6-pack: Peabody 6-84770

I know this is a dumb question but which line of new Lionel Products, specifically engines etc. work with the older tubular track and transformer systems without changing anything? I asked the reps at the local train show and they had no idea. I know some don't work anymore with the older systems and layouts so I want to make sure.

Thanks
