Rats, I can't get the catalog to load again. It probably will in a few days.

Can anyone tell me about the tank cars with sounds? I looked over this whole post and gather that there's a couple of sets of them? individual cars?

This is my favorite Lionel product and I am interested!

Thanks for the direct link!

When I click it, the load goes about 2/3s over and stalls. The last time I tried I left the room for awhile and it still never loaded.

For those who are trying to load the catalog and it stalls, may I suggest trying a different browser.

I'm looking at the SD45 in MRL, BN or GN U33, a few other things caught my eye, but $400 for GN heavyweights?! C'mon man!  OK, on a serious note, does anyone have an idea why these might be worth the price?  Lionel sometimes releases really nice items with limited descriptions and only after release does the realization of value become apparent.  Do these cars have superior detailing aka GGD or the recent Atlas, are they full of very realistic figures (yes they have figures), is the lettering 24 gold overlay (jk)?  Yes, I may be fishing for the right reason to buy.

May go with the Niagara (fantasy 6001)  if I decide to sell the Vision Genset, MTH S2's (2), NYC Dryfus to pay for it.

Gene,

Send me an email if you've got anything to sell.

Hope all is well,

Matt Panagos

Matt, your profile did not include an email.  Send one to me.

Done!

I placed a pre-order today with TrainWorld for the Tier-4 BNSF set.   I have six LC+ locos, this will be my first LC loco.   I decided to give it a try in order to have a modern LC diesel loco, I hope that I don't regret this decision.   I also have the new LC+ SD-60M which is a great locomotive, and the LC+ Berkshire.   Delivery is not until end of this year (2018), so perhaps into 2019.   BTW I used the AP to set the sounds on my two recent LC+ locos, but generally just run them with my Universal Remote, with 3 trains running on my small 4X12 layout.

With my LC+ locos I rarely use the remote uncouplers.   The LC+ features I will miss with this LC locomotive are the speed control and the ability to tune the sounds through the ap.

You won’t regret this decision. My LC CSX GP38 diesel from the intermodal set is well worth the price especially with all the sweet maxi stacks and semi trailers they sell for $60 seperate, I think the BNSF set this time around will be a very similar experience you will enjoy it and I can tell you for certain that the sounds are adjustable via the app the same as the LC+ models. That being said check the loco gears out of box and perhaps oil them I felt Lionel could’ve been more thorough in this area, but it’s very minor.

Interesting, the 2-6-6-2's don't list whistle steam on it, but at the top of the page #1522 looks like it is supposed to be. Know what they say, "if it isn't on plain ink, all bets are off". Guess they skipped on that. Have the prior 2-6-6-2's had whistle steam?

The ones made in 2012 had whistle steam, so I would figure the new ones would, too, especially to justify the $1600 price tag.

Well I caved and placed my order on Friday. When discussing the H10 with the "Gunrunner" about the whistle steam and swinging Bell and how he thought it would look really cool, I went for the set( I like the"Buy War Bonds " slogan). And as if I didn't have enough intermountain kits as well as Atlas O , K-Line die cast 2 bay hoppers and the the 5  three packs of Lionel Prr GLa hoppers I ordered the three addition hopper packs and the 1980 scale autoracks ( MKT and c&o?)
