I spent about 2 months in the basement putting together a new 5X7 layout and then moved it upstairs and added the christmas tree. The tree fit perfect and the rest of the layout went together like a fine swiss watch. I used Atlas Track for the first time ever and mounted the track on rubber roof material. I am amazed at how smooth and quiet the two trains are while running. Someone else mentioned and it is great when you hear only the noise you want to hear while the trains are running. All and All I am happy with the results. I plan to enjoy it up to and for at least 2 weeks (or longer) after Christmas Day and many years after. Regards to everyone. Casey.

Thanks to all for your kind words, makes it all worth while.

Hey Don, I use to live in Stratford and had a business across the street from Avco, on the corner of Main St. and Access Road. (many years ago).

DGJONES, There will be children around. Thanks

Don and Walt ,you hit it right on the head, For 20 years now we have christmas cards made from photo's of the outside or inside of our home and we use the saying inside the card From Our Home To Your Home. We have used the tree on several occasions so this year I am thinking of a close up of the layout with just some tree branches and decorations showing. Again thanks for the encouragement.  Regards, Casey

Wow, small world. I have lived in Stratford all my life, 66 years. Maybe I bumped into you. What was the business? (Cricket?)

No Don, the other corner A&B Enterprises.  (over 25 years ago).

Hi Casey, it all looks great. I hope you have many good years with it.

Killian mentioned Santa and how he loves to spend a few moments on our Christmas train displays. This may be true, but I heard that a great little tree layout never fails to inspire him to leave a nice toy train gift behind.

Killian Thanks Nice remark from a fellow vet. (that name Casey was tagged on me in the Navy).

Thanks all you folks for your remarks.

Now : The rubber roof material. Rubber roofing is a roofing system that has been around for about 20-25 years that I know of. It is available from roofing supply houses. I have found many uses for this material. I purchased this last batch which is made by Johns Manville  from Bradco Supply in Allentown, Pa. It comes in 15 Ft. wide rolls. It is about 1/16" thick and yes that is what is on my layout. It is nice to work with, I lay out the pattern I want and then cut it with a large scissors. I also have it on the layout I made about 7-8 years ago, it will last forever. I clean the rubber using alcohol or other solvents  to remove the slippery powder on it and then I am able to apply pinstripe tape anywhere I want to make road layouts, as you can see. Some large supply house might not cut it off the roll for you and then you will have to deal with a roofer that has a full roll. There are Bradco Supplys in many states and this recent purchase about 3 months ago cost 65 cents a square ft. It is amazing how quiet my trains are using Atlas track, on this rubber my other layout has Fastrack and is a little bit louder. I also use this material for making liners for all my tool box drawers, it works great. Hope this helps you folks, any other questions, feel free to ask.

Here is a different photo before the tree, notice I made a change on the layout and had to add a piece of the rubber back. Regards, Casey.
