Freddok and Mattrain,

1st York? Be prepared having comfortable walking shoes, lots of cash and/or credit cards with low balances. You are in for a rude awakening by the sheer size of York and it was larger at one time but still quite a huge meet.

Enjoy your upcoming adventure.

Be judicious with your use of credit cards.  MOST vendors will give a discount if you write a check, and will do even better for cash (always a strong negotiating tool).  That said, a few dealer vendors charge the same price regardless of payment method, in which case it pays to whip out the plastic and get the points.  Bottom line - always ask before you pay.

Enjoy your first York.

Is this really still York? No DCS dinner, reduced participation by many vendors, people not attending for various reasons, etc., etc. I suspect that we will be able to add quite a lot to the "What I miss about  York" post after this Spring York. I may even spend more at the Eagles store in Lancaster than at the Fairgrounds.

I'm sure that the farmers will at least make sure we know its spring by the smell of the fertilizer wafting in the general area. It does remind me of the Phillies.

And even with all of this, I know I will still have a great time. That is the real beauty of York.

They used to have a parking lot cookout? I would think rules and regulations, safety codes or ordinances probably nixed that. Man, it would have been great to get some stuff cooked out there last year. What was it like?

The parking lot cookouts were done with permission.  Check out this thread for some pix and a bit more info.  3rdRailMike was the organizer of this gathering, but he has since left the hobby.

So the York meet is next week and I registered online back in March.  I still haven't gotten my badge.  Has everyone else gotten theirs?

Mine just arrived yesterday; later than normal.

Thanks BlueComet!

I hope mine will arrive this weekend but if not, maybe I can get through to TCA on Monday.

I will do this if haven't gotten it by tomorrow.

Thank you sir

Mark, looking forward to meeting you. It sure is great now that table-holders get the same location each meet. We get to know our neighbors and it's easy to find people. I remember back in the late 70's when I first started going to York with my Dad, and table assignments were different every meet. He always wanted a table in the Blue Hall, and always wrote a note requesting that when he mailed his registration. I can recall only one time that he didn't get his request, and we were in the Red Hall. All those York train meets are among my best memories of quality time with Dad.
