Well, reading your title had me a little apprehensive to watch the cool video. I’m sure glad I did, showing off the Fantasy Scheme Steamers and Diesels was so uniquely beautiful. I think Lionel does a great job with these locomotives and they are possibly sleepers, saying they could become highly collectible. You have a really nice layout and seeing you on your layout (a cool idea) between those beautiful steamers was very interesting. Thanks and I’m glad the hobbit is healthy. Happy Railroading Everyone

Re @jdstucks cameo at the end, I trust that all of those different road numbers are prototypical.
Fun video. I enjoy seeing the fantasy schemes, but it blows my budget when they're done on high-end engines.

Not even close.

Not a fantasy scheme, but do you have one (O scale, AHM did one in HO) in the 1969 AAR light blue 1869 Centennial scheme? I saw it once as the second motor on a train that I rode to 30th Street.
I don't like fantasy paint schemes but a lot of people do.
The hobby is not dying. Went to the Franklin Indiana train show Saturday.
It was packed.

Funny you should mention it. I have two Rivarossi AHM ones in HO and an Arnold N scale one in that paint scheme. Do you remember what year your rode behind it? I never knew when 4902 got repainted back into PC black.
However, the GG1 has had its share of fantasy schemes applied to it over the years in the modeling world. Penn Line offered it in New Haven, Great Northern, and Northern Pacific in the 1950's. The HO Tyco abomination of this locomotive was also offered in New Haven and an odd Amtrak scheme that I think was a play on Phase II.
Rivarossi and later IHC offered the GG1 in HO in the 1976 Pennsylvania scheme which was a proposed scheme for GG1 4800 that was not selected. MTH offered it in O scale also. Finally, the Conrail Bicentennial 4800 scheme has been put on numerous manufacturers non-riveted GG1s in all the major scales.

No, but it probably was when I was home on leave 1970 or 1972 maybe? I was onboard the Kitty Hawk (CVA-63) for its 70-71 Westpac cruise. I am thinking after the cruise.
We all boarded at Penn Station (Baltimore) to go to PHL, I still remember Pete's grumbling about having to pay full fare! Dave was employed by Amtrak (free on employee pass), me (half-fare active duty military discount), and Pete (no discount).
