I recently saw a video where the CAB2 was programed by a new Legacy engine passing over the sensor track, after pushing program on the sensor track.

Can the CAB1L/Base 1L also be programed this way?

Would using an inexpensive ipad be of any help?

These are planning questions. I currently have the CAB1L/Base 1L set with PowerMaster, have started a layout, and am wondering if a sensor track would be beneficial for programing.

Thanks in advance, your response is appreciated.

As Marty said the Cab1L has no screen and functionality of the Cab2 so nothing to load.

Just to clarify.  If you do have a CAB 2 & Sensor track setup, you simply run over the track, you do not push the Program button.  That button is used for a totally different purpose.

Also, sensor track or not, you always have to assign the Engine ID, if you don't want to leave it at the Lionel Default.
