The Lionel sensor track and programing the CAB1L /Base 1L legacy system

The sensor track will NOT load any information for the Cab1L/Base1L as it can't do anything with it.  There is no display and no specialized functionality from the Cab1L.

That's what I figured...  So I would put the engine in program mode, assign the engine number to the CAB1L, and I would be good to go, yes?

Pretty much. There is a procedure to set up the Cab1L to quill the whistle or horn.

These are planning questions. I currently have the CAB1L/Base 1L set with PowerMaster, have started a layout, and am wondering if a sensor track would be beneficial for programing.

As Marty said the Cab1L has no screen and functionality of the Cab2 so nothing to load.

Just to clarify.  If you do have a CAB 2 & Sensor track setup, you simply run over the track, you do not push the Program button.  That button is used for a totally different purpose.

Also, sensor track or not, you always have to assign the Engine ID, if you don't want to leave it at the Lionel Default.
