Your post is a bit confusing. What are you trying to say?  As far as the Thomas engine if you are commenting on the fact that it has no visble steam cylinders to drive the main rod  and wheels, there is a reason for that. the engine class that Thomas is modeled after had cylinders inside the frame not on the outside so the rods do look like nothing is moving them. 

The Strasburg (real steam powered) Thomas is remodeled and built off of an American steam engine with outside cylinders ex B.E.D.T. 0-6-0T # 13 I think. It does have visible cylinders with all of the linkage that goes along with that.
