Hi, everyone,

I would like to know if anyone might have either a color, or B&W, photo. of a Therm Ice Corp. insulated box car, with a plug door, owned by the Publicker Industries, to share with us?

The car was about 40ft. long, had a Classification of 'LCR,' 'Reporting Marks' of TICX, which was under the registration of the National Car Co.

I have searched the internet, but I get nowhere.

Maybe, I need to use magic words, for the internet, to get satisfactory results?

Thank you,

Ralph

Thank you John, I have only found scale models also and to your defense in my original post, as Rusty points out, I should have cleared up my request by adding 'Prototype' car color and/or B&W photos.

So far, my Inter-Net search finds scale models and law suits directed at the owner, of the Therm Ice insulted box cars, Publicker Industries Corp. of South Philadelphia, Penna.

As, Andrew, on this forum, suggested reference books on the subject of my search.

Thank you all,

Ralph

I checked the Car Builder Cyclopedia I have for 1958,1960 and 1966 no information on ThermIce plug door insulated boxcars, my guess these cars were built between 1967 and 1975. Also could not find any information on National Car company as a car builder, North American Car is now part of GE Railcar Services and National Steel Car Company is a Canadian freight car builder.

Thank you John,

I'm still searching for a prototypical photo. of the box car, as I like to have a photo. of the prototype, to go along with the scale model.

Atlas put out the model of the car, but I could get more info. from government agencies, before I get any info. from Atlas.

The Atlas model has dates of "AX 6 55" and "BLT AX 2-50" and the car's classification is 'LRC.'

Thank you all for your suggestions.

I thanked a friend of mine, who I ordered an Atlas, 'Therm Ice' 1:48 scale model box car from, who suggested for me to contact Atlas for a Prototypical photo. of said box car.

I did and one of the kind folks at Atlas did provide me with a color prototypical photo. of the 'Therm Ice' box car, who I also thanked.

Unfortunately, I am not permitted to post said photo.

I am sorry, because a photo. of the 'Therm Ice' box car, seems to be unobtainable, in case others would like a photo. of same.

To continue with this mysterious Publicker Industries, 'Therm Ice Incorporated' 'Dry Ice' plug door, insulated box car, like Atlas 'O' M.L.S'. 1:48 scale model, the dates on the prototype car are the same, as on the scale model, as I previously posted.

Both, prototype and scale model, have: TICX 8907, 'AX 6 55'   'BLT AX 2-50.'

Atlas 'O' Trainman Item #2002305 3-rail and 2002355 2-rail.
