My Cab 2 Legacy rather suddenly stopped working - well at least the throttle control (all other TMCC functions OK) on ALL my engines (so I know its not them) I re-booted the 1.3 software (my system has been updated by Lionel) and tried re-setting the RL2 chips in a few engines. Swapped in the CAB 1 on the layout to eliminate other possible issues - it worked so I conclude a legacy controller issue? Anyone have similar problems? Ideas? Any thoughts most appreciated!

Have you tried fresh batteries in the Cab-2? I know when batteries get weak in a Cab-1 the knob quits working but the buttons still work fine. Maybe the Cab-2 is the same way.
My guess is you have a real failure of the big red knob. I'd contact Lionel.
Thanks guys, tried new batteries and no avail....but I did re-boot the software and it seems to work now - but a caution I had Lionel do the V 1.3 upgrade and all my problems started since then. In fact I could NOT re-boot using the V1.3 software modules- only the 1.0 version seemed to work? Who knows -but I suspect sitting all summer somehow corrupted the software. I like the Legacy system but cannot in good faith call is "Stable" as I have had to re-load software/reboot a few times now.
Sitting with no power or no batteries should not affect the firmware at all, it's programmed into FLASH memory.
Personally, I'd upgrade to the current software, 1.52.
Yeah, it died again and Lionel said to send back and upgrade to V1.52.......any comments on 1.52? Is it any better....so far becoming unimpressed as this is the second trip (1.3 upgrade already) back to Lionel?
Well, the original 1.0 units had to go back to Lionel for a boot firmware upgrade. The user can upgrade from 1.3 to any of the later versions, I've upgraded a 1.2 unit to 1.52 a couple of times.
The wheel not working is almost surely a hardware issue. Note that if you're a veteran, Lionel will pay the shipping on warranty repairs both ways, a nice bonus.
