I have installed ERR TMCC products in two American Flyer engines with great succes.  The boards are in the tender, then tethered to the engine, usual hook up.  Since the tenders are metal, they suggest putting the antenna under the frame of the tender.  Haven't gotten brace enough to try it on Marx, but I would think it surely could be done, just would have to disconnect the Marx Eunit...

The best way I've found to deal with the TMCC antenna in the tender is to float the tender shell and use it as the antenna.  It gives you a nice large antenna.

I use Kapton tape to insulate the edges and nylon screws to replace the metal screws for the tender shell.  The Kapton tape is very thin and tough, and it doesn't cause fit issues like you can have with black electrical tape or the like.
