Sure this has been asked before

I was contemplating this summer (layout down time) having my TIU and remotes updated to whatever the latest greatest rev is assuming it is bug

free .

I know, do it yourself but the last time took two days of frustration ( and blue language) to get to ver 4.02 (or 4.2 can't remember which) years ago .

So is best bet shipping back to MTH or someone who has the setup (mine is old RS232 plug) that zip-zip and done and knows all the work arounds of upload/download quirks?  Like GRJ or Marty F., or GGG etc.

On the other hand, all I do is scroll speed wheel, ring bell, sound whistle and have no reason to delve into menus , so of course, why upgrade if its working for me.  Would be nice to clone my second remote so wife could run trains also but that remote at ver 4.02 would require alot of work to match the good one .

The loader program has been very much improved and made much more user-friendly since the old days.  If you upgraded years ago, you probably still have all the required cables.  Why don't you download the newest Loader program.  When from the menu at the top you select the function you want to perform, there pops up detailed step-by-step instructions on how to proceed.
