"TIU not found" doesn't necessarily mean TIU not found

Good information for those of us that haven't upgraded to 5.0 yet.

that's because there is a software glitch all you have to do it do the check search for the com port every time you start the 5.0 loader  then all will work correctly no problems. the search for com port you must do when you first start the loader if you leave it powered up then you don't need to do it until your next power up of the tiu and com port search!

works fine other wise. I've used it many times! good luck and have fun with your trains for the holidays!

No Alan,  You're wrong.  Read what I wrote again a tad more carefully.  The search function found the TIU with no problem, every time and immediately.  But with the remote not well connected, when I'd try to access the remote, the message came up saying that the TIU could not be found.

The glitch you mention was discovered by those of us on the upgrade crew at York with MTH present, and supposedly was the reason why the public release was delayed a week or so thereafter.  I have not heard others tell of any further problems with the new Loader program.

Joe, this would apply to any use of the Loader program to access a remote.  Uploading any version code or restoring from the PC.  In fact, I was trying to restore after youngest grandson hid READ again and moved 25 locos to inactive list.

We just finished doing 8 remotes with Win 7 on a lap top and using   USB to rs-232 adaptor to the RS  232  port on the tiu. I don't recall getting this message .  The hardest part was getting the clamp on when told to hold down the power button.... I don't think we ever  got it right the first time . Took as few tries.... But it's done and working well. 

 Haven't tried uploading remote  to save on the computer yet. Are you saying trouble ahead?

No trouble Gregg.  Problem was my tools, the handset cord.  It has been used on hundreds of remotes, and maybe contact fingers are failing.  I wanted forumites to be aware that the message does not necessarily mean problem with computer or computer-tiu link.  That way they won't shoot a couple of hours before I called Mr. Superguru.

Who's Superguru?   I remember Super Dave Osborne though. 

RJR I also know sometimes on the phone cord contact fingers you can bend them so there will be more pressure and then they will make contact on the remote, I have ran into that issue with my house telephone many times and is a easy fix.
