i recently just purchased a tiu and wiu, but I don’t know which is the best power supply to use. I have a Lionel cw 80, but I am not sure if this is a good transformer to use. Which power supply is the best for a tiu?

If you mean to power the track and the TIU with the CW80, then no, that's not a good device to use. MTH engines won't like the power from that device. A Lionel PH series brick is a better choice for power. Like the PH180 for example. Of course, the MTH bricks are also good choices for this as well as the Z4000. There are many choices as long as the power is not chopped like that from the CW80.
If you mean just to power the TIU by the Aux input, then I don't have any experience with using that. I would recommend about a 1 amp 12 volt power supply for the Aux power of the TIU.
Take the CW80 and put it in the trash... purchase a Z 750 or Z 1000 for your TIU power up.

Well, maybe just use it for dedicated Lionel only tracks.
or lights? or....
Z500 plug it into the auxiliary power port, and your good to go. Nothing against the Z1000 and Z750 other than they are overkill for powering a TIU. If you have a Z1000, I'd use it to power one of the tracks on the TIU.

Wait your right... Cut the cord off first, then throw the CW80 in the trash...

I can't seem to locate any dealer with the 24 volt power supply intended for the TIU. Anyone seen one for sale anywhere? They all seem to be on backorder, I checked 5 dealers websites.
