Help! I purchased the DCS Companion third edition. I have read and re-read the wifi section. I am about to order the wireless interface from Legacy Station. The description for the wireless interface says the TIU must be upgraded to 5.0. Exactly how do I do that? Can I do that? I need to know before I order the wireless interface.

I can be done yourself if you have a computer. Go to MTH web site and download the DCS Loader program and install it on your computer. Then you download the data files. The Loader program contains step-by-step instructions for uploading. Ask Legacy Station if they will upgrade the WIU to version 1.1 firmware before they ship it; that will spare you some effort.
The title of the thread speaks of the TIU. The remote(s) must also be upgraded to version 5.0. Also a simple job, done with the Loader program, which also has step-by-step instructions for that and other finctions, such as backup the remote to a computer.
The DCS book describes updating and the items required in Part VIII - Software Upgrading starting on page 134. The Loader and the upgrades are available from the MTH website here DCS Software Section. This link is also available on the main page of the MTH website from the DCS Digital Command System box just above the lower menu bar. You may have to upgrade the WIU as well, if your version is not 1.10 (the latest). That is also available from the DCS link.
I have only upgraded mine a couple of times so I have to refer to the book and loader program for specific details. Some of the more experienced folks around here could probably give you a step-by-step from memory, but the DCS book and loader program on screen instructions is what got me through it.
Also, on the MTH website at the DCS link above the box containing the software updates there is a Windows driver that some here have reported needing. I did not have to install any drivers, but a few other folks have reported having to do this. Last upgrade I did was with Windows 7. I have since upgraded all our PC's to Windows 10, but have not personally done an update since upgrading.
Edit: RJR posted while I was typing this up. He is much more experienced than I, so follow his advice first.
here is the correct windows driver for windows 7,8, or 10 !
