I received the TM Tinplate Legends in Action‏ DVD for Christmas and really enjoyed it. I was thinking that a great follow up to the video would include:

Terry Johnson's incredible collection and amazing layout in Colorado.

Denny Kinkead and Bob Sanginiti's spectacular Standard Gauge layout in Maryland.

An interview with Arno Baars who is somewhat of an expert on Modern Era Standard Gauge trains and has an amazing collection.

I definitely hope this series continues and we get to see more Standard Gauge Tinplate! I plan on emailing Tom McComas and was wondering if anyone here knows how to contact Denny Kinkead and Bob Sanginiti and if you have ideas for any other great tinplate layouts or collections that you would like to see in a video?

Thanks.

FYI, I heard back from Tom McComas and he told me they are working on Part 2 right now. The plan is to have it available for April York. It will include a Chuck Brasher update, also his neighbor in Grass Valley, Clyde Easterly, Bob McCarthy’s layout in Reno, and a story on a 40 X 12 layout they are building in the TM studio which runs 10 std gauge trains.

I am looking forward to that. He alos told me he would consider my suggections for part III.
Lord, I feel like such a downer sometimes when I get on this forum! I'm glad the second volume will have Brasher's layout and collection.

I got the DVD as a stocking stuffer and have half a dozen of McComas's earlier videos, but I've got to say, I watch them because there's nothing else available. Am I the only person who can't stand the awful music they choose to lay over the video? Most of the stuff makes me think I'm watching a drunken clown porno or something - I've watched this thing a couple of times and I actually found it better when muted. Why not tell the history of the trains or talk about the trains while showing them instead of just playing nonsensical music?

Also, I was very disappointed at the disproportionate amount of modern repro tinplate in this video as compared to original pieces. The long interview with Mike Wolf was kinda' dull and I just found the production value (of all the TM videos for that matter) rather poor. It really got me when a repro Prosperity Special derailed, and they continued to film it with the loco's rear truck bouncing along the track! Call me picky, but I might've opted for a "do over" on that one.

It's not terrible, but I like the video they did on Richard Kughn's collection a lot better, and I hope the next one has a lot more original tinplate in it. Roll Eyes
