TMCC class 2 transformer

I purchased a class 2 transformer for a friend to replace the one he lost for his TMCC base. I am using the exact same transformer on my layout which I'm running through my DCS system. I thought I would try it out on my layout and when I turned on the power both of my Lionel engines started up without me turning them on with my remote. My question is if I swap out the transformers am I supposed to reprogram the TMCC engines to the other transformer even if they are the same?

Nope, sounds like the transformer is missing the connection from the ground pin on the outlet side to the barrel outside. Check it with a meter, the outside barrel should be connected to the round earth ground pin on the 120v plug.

I have the ground wire connected from the TMCC base to the TIU out. When I unplug my unit from the base and plug in the other (which is the same as mine) the green light on the base does not come on. It doesn't seem like there is any power. I don't have a meter to check it with. Mine works fine.

I just talked to the guy I got this from and he says that they are just a power cord for the base and if the green light isn't coming on he says that it is no good.

Use a bulb, or even lighted car and jumper/scrap wires to check the new power supply out.

Same output voltage and amperage? More amps would be ok, but not less.
