Gentlemen, I have a question. Is a PM-1 suppose to be able to control a command control or legacy engine. I bought one these 20 years ago for my son and bought a gg1 at the time and never could get it to work as a command control engine always ran in conventional mode. Never much cared till he bought one these new legacy control engines now i would like to try to run this engine in command control. I was wondering if the pm-1 is deffective or we just don't know what we are doing. Any information would be greatly appreciated. He runs his trains off zw and kw transformers. thanks for your time.

A powermaster is for controlling conventional engines remotely. Think of it as a remote controlled voltage regulator.
A Powermaster isn't any good without a Cab1 to control it. And then it will only control conventional or command controlled trains in conventional mode. To take advantage of command controlled trains added features you need to have either a Cab1/TMCC base or a Cab2/Legacy base. If you add the Cab1/TMCC base to your Pm-1 you'll be able to control your trains in command and conventional mode with the cab1 remote. To access ALL the features in a Legacy equipped engine you'll need a Cab2/Legacy base to run command control only. To use your Pm-1 with Legacy you would need a Powermaster Bridge also. This would add conventional engine control to your cab2.

This may sound just silly, but can you post pics and model number(s) of your PM-1 and GG1? There are several items that are contained in the same case as a "PM-1".
thanks alot i now remember that you had to have one more item to make it work. I have always been partial to post war trains . But these new ones are pretty interesting. Really appreciate your help. This is great place . charles criss
