TMCC RF signal

Where is the TMCC base plugged in?  Directly to an outlet or are you using a surge protector strip?  It's better to plug directly into the wall outlet that is properly grounded as part of the signal transmission is via the earth ground of your house.

MartyE, Thank you.  The base and the Z1000 power supply are plugged directly into the outlet.  No power strips.

Is the power supply the original 3 prong power supply from Lionel?

Check and make sure the antenna (handrails) on the locomotive are not electrically connected to the shell of the engine.  They should be isolated from the shell.

Yes, the power supply is three pronged.  

Please see attached pictures of locomotive.  From what I can tell, yes the outside antenna is grounded.

show a picture of the layout where the signal issue happens.

by placing your hand over the engine in the area you have issues shows you have a ground plane issue.

something around the area might need grounding.

Using Fastrak on a carpet.  Simple oval.  

I might move the oval to another place in the house and see what happens.

How big is the layout?  How much track?

It was just a loop, 036 curves with a few straights.  I set up another loop in a different room and all appears functional.  Not too sure what the issue was with the other room.  I checked the ground at the plug and it was fine.  

Perhaps, something is a miss with the Fastrack or an environmental issue in that room.   That particular room that showed the issues has the internet modem amongst other electronics.  Never had an issue with DCS, but got to love RF.

the electronics might have played a part in the signal issue.
