I have a basic fastrack layout 6 x 10 oval with several sidings. All of my engines are conventional. I'm looking into using TMCC so I can control the engines with a remote. Can someone share ideas or links on how to do this? I appreciate any assistance!

Well, the top solution right now is the ERR products if you're looking to have individual control of each engine.
OTOH, if you simply want the run the conventional engines with a wireless remote, the Lionel 6-37146 Legacy Powermaster in conjunction with any TMCC/Legacy command system will give you that capability.
Gunrunnerjohn, I have a cab 1L setup specifically to run my landmaster Big boy. Are you saying I can run my 2026 and 2055 using that setup if I add that legacy powermaster to it?

You bet, the Powermaster just varies the track voltage from the remote like you are running it from a transformer.
Thank you so much, GRJ. I think I learn something every day from this forum.
Last question. Do I need to purchase the powermaster adapter cable 12893 to go with the powermaster 37146?
It all depends on what transformer you are using. Powerhouses do plug directly into a powermaster and you do not need the powermaster cable. One powermaster per one loop of track and you can vary the voltage on that loop. A cab-1 does talk directly with a powermaster. I am not sure that occurs with a cab1L talking directly with a legacy powermaster. The crystals in the cab-1 and the powermaster communicate without the command base. As for the cab1L, you may or may not need a base1L to communicate with a legacy powermaster.
I do know that the original cab-1 talked to the original powermasters without a TMCC base.
So, the question is what are you using for track power? You would need a powermaster cable for a postwar ZW or similar.

Ted, he specifically mentioned the CAB1L, so presumably he's running either the BASE1L or the Legacy #990. For either of those, the choice is the one we mentioned, the Legacy Powermaster.
Thank you gentlemen. I have the cab 1L that I got to specifically run the lionmaster Big boy. My modest layout runs on a post-war ZW. Having read the manual for the powermaster, it definitely says I need to add that cable.
Yes, buy the powermaster cable which sells for about $15.
With the postwar ZW, I am assuming you have the proper circuit breaker protection when running the big boy.
