I've searched here and couldn't find anything specific. I have a few minor, but noticeable chips on my trucks and would like to just touch them up. I've seen suggestions to use a Sharpie but cons seem to be it looks purple. I found a bottle of Scalecoat "black loco' on the bay but I'm hesitating. Probably will buy it if nothing better exists.

Should have been more careful taking it apart.
A little tip for the sharpie trick. After it dries (seconds), take your finger and give it a lick and rub the sharpie repair, it'll take the purple out of it.
Thanks. In my defense, I was very careful and did not chip it when I was working (that's my story and I'm sticking to it) ....Now, my engineering skills, that's another matter. When you have two loops and you've added switches to connect them it is very important to know in which direction the switch is thrown before heading into it...
Now, on such a gorgeous day, why are we in front of our computers!
Still cloudy here, waiting for the sun.

Well, OK then.
Or, you could paint it black and not have to lick your finger.
Had good luck with Testors enamel paint markers. Think I bought them at Hobby Lobby. Tried sharpies but didn't know about the wet finger trick.
Chips add character and indicate lots of fun.

I agree...but on a VL Hudson, not so much.

I tried the GRJ "wet finger" trick on a PW engine...works pretty good.

Alright sounds good GRJ saved you a trip and a few bucks.
The beauty of the Sharpie fix is a little alcohol wipes it right off if you don't like the result.
is there a train holder to hold these nice engines when working on them? I had to take mine apart for a smoke gen motor
